One postdoctoral fellow position is available in The Department of Resource Economics and Environmental Sociology in the Faculty of Agricultural, Life and Environmental Sciences to work with Dr. Vic Adamowicz (University of Alberta) and Dr. Pat Lloyd-Smith (University of Saskatchewan) on the economic relationships between infectious diseases and the Environment / Agriculture.

The successful candidate will be expected to support research leading to the improved modeling of economic linkages between infectious disease outbreaks, policies to address the health risks arising from the outbreaks, and impacts on the environment (e.g. air quality, recreation) and agriculture. The post-doctoral fellow will work closely with Drs. Adamowicz and Lloyd-Smith as well as a team of scholars in other disciplines to better understand the relationships between health risks, the environment, and agriculture. The duties include constructing theoretical and empirical models of linkages between health risks and the sectors, working to integrate the models with other economic and epidemiological models, preparing presentations, and writing reports / academic papers.
This post-doctoral appointment will be for a one-year term with a possible extension of up to two years pending funding and includes a benefits package which can be viewed here. Salary will commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Key Qualifications
· PhD in Environmental Economics, Agricultural Economics, Economics or related discipline.
· Completed their PhD within the last 5 years.
· Ability to conduct empirical research related to environmental and agricultural economics problems.
· Ability to work with researchers in other disciplines to integrate economic analysis into other biological/ecological models.
· Ability to prepare research reports, academic presentations, and communications.
· A record of achievement in peer-reviewed academic papers and conference presentations.
· The ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
· Excellent communications skills
· Skills in economic theory and empirical methods
