EfD-Vietnam is a member within an international network of environmental economics think tanks, EfD Initiative. EfD-Vietnam aims to contribute to sustainable development in Vietnam by implementing high quality research and promoting evidence-based policy in environmental and resource management.
EfD-Vietnam is administered by Economy and Environment Partnership for Southeast Asia (EEPSEA) at University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH). In addition, EfD-Vietnam collaborates with the UEH School of Economics to support the training programs and courses closely related to using economics approaches and instruments to manage the environment for a better development.
Shaping sustainable use of natural and human resources for sustainable development in Vietnam
To contribute to sustainable development by promoting environmental economic education and research founded on the integration of knowledge and the development of analytical skills.
EfD-Vietnam fulfills its mission through three main strategic goals:
- Research: to conduct high quality environmental economics and interdisciplinary research that address human-environment interface challenges in Vietnam and in the world.
- Capacity building: to enhance the capacity of researchers and decision makers to be effective partners in supporting and implementing the sustainable development in Vietnam.
- Policy impact: to promote evidence-based policy in environmental management for Vietnam by linking research and policy decision making process.
More than 20 research fellows of EfD-Vietnam work on multidisciplinary research projects on diversified themes from energy, forest, water, fishery, land use, climate change, pollution to green growth and sustainable development. EfD-Vietnam fellows have published on Journal of Public Economics, Environmental and Resource Economics, Oxford Economic Papers, Climate and Development, Resource and Energy Economics, Ecological Economics, Land Use Policy or Environmental Hazard.
