Applying the SES Framework to coral reef restoration projects on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica

Submitted by Marianela Arguello on

Introduction: Global and local stressors have led to rapid declines in coral reef health. The high rates of coral degradation have motivated restoration initiatives worldwide. Evaluation of these initiatives has provided valuable information regarding coral restoration techniques and limitations faced by projects. However, most of the literature is focused on evaluating metrics related to fragment survival rate and growth, leaving a gap in understanding how social aspects such as governance structure affect project outcomes

Submitted by Luat Do on

I develop a theory to study the determination of land rights in precolonial Vietnam, in which the state uses restrictive land rights to tie landless peasants to their land, in order to collect head taxes and enforce unpaid labor services and military conscription.

Climate Variability and Household Welfare Outcomes in Uganda

Submitted by Jane Anyango on
EfD Authors:

This study examines the impact of climate variability on household welfare outcomes in Uganda by combining long-term climate data (1979-2013) interpolated at household level, and six waves of the Uganda National Panel Survey (2009-2019). Pooled average ordinary least squares and random effects models are used for empirical analysis. The results indicate that climate variability has a significant nonlinear impact on household welfare outcomes.
