Climate change poses a serious challenge to Kenya’s socioeconomic development as the key drivers of its economy – including agriculture, forestry and fisheries among others – are affected by climate change. This study will address the following research questions. How has climate variability affected food security in Kenya? Who is vulnerable to climate variability and climate change in the Kenya? How vulnerable are they? What are the key policy options for mitigating the effect of climate variability on food security and vulnerability?
The general objective of this study is to analyse the linkages between climate change, food security and hunger in Kenya. The specific objectives include: (i) Examine vulnerability of Kenyan agriculture to climate change; (ii) Examine the impact of climate variability and change on food security in the Kenya; and (iii) Formulate policy options for mitigating the effect of climate variability on food security, hunger and vulnerability in Kenya
