Sterner President of EAERE 2008-2009

Professor Thomas Sterner, who is chair of the EfD Research Committee, is elected President of The European Association of Environmental and Resource Economists (EAERE) 2008-2009.

EAERE is an international scientific association which aims to contribute to the development and application of environmental and resource economics as a science in Europe; to improve communication and contacts between teachers, researchers and students in environmental and resource economics in different European countries; and to develop and encourage cooperation between university level teaching institutions and research institutions in Europe.

The 16th annual conference of European Association of Environmental and Resource Economists (EAERE) is to be held here at the School of Business, Economics and Law, June 25-28, 2008. Thomas Sterner is Chair of the Local Organization Committee. The conference is a general conference and all topics are welcome.  Founded in 1990, EAERE currently has approximately 700 members from Europe and beyond, from academic institutions, the public sector, and private industry. Interests range from traditional economics, agricultural economics, forestry, and natural resource schools. Through the Association Journal, Environmental and Resource Economics, the Annual Conference, the annual Summer Schools, and affiliation with our sister association in America (AERE), EAERE provides many forums for exchanging ideas relevant to the allocation and management of natural and environmental resources.
