On May 31st, 2011, the Seventh Member Assembly of the Chinese Association in Forestry Economics (CAFE) was held in Beijing. The assembly elected a new council committee for the association. Professor Jintao Xu was elected Vice-President of the association.
The Chinese Association in Forestry Economics (CAFE), since its foundation 31 years ago, has been devoted in theoretical and empirical researches in reforms and development of China's forest sector. In particular, great attention has been paid to ecological theory and practice, the reform of collective forest tenure system, the reform of state-owned forest sector, forest management studies, industrial development in forestry, and other studies such as providing guidelines and theoretical support to the Natural Forest Protection Project. Significant results have been achieved based on these studies.
