The Latin American and Caribbean Environmental Economics Program (LACEEP) started the short course "Policy analysis for environmental economics" by Professor Nancy Olewiler from School of Public Policy, Simon Fraser University Vancouver, Canada.
The course is taking place in Mexico City from September 26 - 28, 2014, focuses on practical aspects of policy analysis and build on the theoretical foundations provided by the disciplines of economics, political science, and research methods. The goals of the training is to help participants to think critically about policy analysis, develop policy analysis skills using current policy issues as examples, and incorporate policy analysis in a systematic and rigorous way in environmental economics research. The course have participants from CIDE, WWF, UNAM and applicants from the XVIII LACEEP workshop gathered last September 22 – 26, 2014.
The workshop welcomed applicants, grantees, scientific committee, advisory committee, and donor committee. The workshop, started with the thematic round "The Economics of climate change and Water in LAC" with final presentations from the Capacity Building Project on Economics of Climate Change, Water and Adaptation in Latin America and the Caribbean. The project is a collaborative effort by EfD-CA and LACEEP at CATIE, and CEDE at the Universidad de los Andes, with generous financial support from IDRC’s Climate Change and Water program (CCW). It has a dual purpose of promoting research and capacity building on environmental economics of climate change (CC) and water in Latin American and the Caribbean (LAC). Research fellow Róger Madrigal is project the coordinator.
