The conference is a Cape Action for People and the Environment (C.A.P.E.) event hosted by the South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI). It brings together those with an interest in economics from the public and private sectors, academia and consultancy to share results of recent research and to discuss issues relevant to the practical application of environmental resource economics. EPRU/EfD South Africa is actively involved in the event. Edwin Muchapondwa, Jane Turpie and Anthony Leiman are active members of the conference committee. Jane Turpie chairs a session on marine resources management. Edwin Muchapondwa, Martine Visser and Kerrri Brick are 3 of the 6 speakers of this latter session dedicated to fishing and biodiversity. Edwin Muchapondwa also chairs a session on vulnerability and production whereas Johane Dikgang presents a paper on plastic bag legislation during the urban issues, values and waste session. Eventually, Jane Turpie is one of the key speakers of a opening plenary session on ecosystems and livelihoods.
