The Summer School in European Environmental Taxation and Policies 2.0 (EU-SUSEET), organised by the Law Department of the University of Naples Federico II in the framework of a Jean Monnet Module funded by the European Commission, will be held on 9-14 September 2024 at University Federico II in Naples, Italy.
SUSEET 2.0 has been designed to provide participants with suitable expertise on environmental taxation and policies, useful both for the construction of an academic career and for a professional one, contributing to the creation of a new generation of European environmental tax lawyers and economists. It will provide the occasion for participants from all over the world discuss with eminent professors and experts working in these fields.
Learning objectives of the course are:
- to provide a comprehensive view on economic and legal basis of environmental taxation;
- to explore the European constraints to the introduction of fiscal instruments to protect the environment: State Aid rules, freedom of movement, prohibition of discrimination, etc.;
- to illustrate the multiple interactions between tax and environment in terms of global policies and their economic and social effects;
- to demonstrate the challenges and new opportunities provided by the circular economy;
- to analyse energy taxation principles and their concrete application in the framework of the EU energy transition strategy;
- to discuss the fit-for-55 and fiscal mechanisms to support a green and inclusive tax reform.
