Saldarriaga, Carlos Adrián

Carlos Adrián Saldarriaga is an Associate Professor at the Department of Economics at Universidad Nacional de Colombia, Medellín, and a Research Fellow of EfD Colombia. He is an economist with a Ph.D. in Engineering from Universidad Nacional de Colombia, Medellín, and a Master's in environmental economics from the University of Concepción, Chile.

Research interests

He is interested in researching the relationship between economic development and natural resources. His research has been focused on the economic analysis of mining resources at the micro and macro levels, cooperation in collective dilemmas, and the governance of natural resources.

Mentoring  

Mentor of more 10+ master theses, 2 Ph.D. theses, and 10+ undergraduate monographs. Participation in the evaluation of 30+ theses in masters and Ph.D. programs.

Grants and consultancy

  • Two research grants provided by the Latin American and Caribbean Environmental Economics Program (LACEEP), 2007-2008; 2012-2013.
  • One research grant was provided by the Partnership for Economic Policy (PEP), 2018-2020.
  • Participation in consultancy projects developed for the Mining and Energy Planning Unit of the Ministry of Mines and Energy of Colombia, 2013-2014.
