Lesseri , Gerald

Gerald Phocus Lesseri is an Assistant Lecturer and a researcher at the University of Dar es Salaam School of Economics. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Economics and Statistics in 2013 and was granted a SIDA-SAREC scholarship to pursue a master’s degree in Economics which he completed in 2015. His research interests are in Development Economics; Labour Economics; Energy Economics, Natural Resources, and Environmental Economics. Mr. Lesseri is currently a PhD student at the Development Economics Group in Wageningen University and Research (WUR) in the Netherlands. His dissertation focuses on exploring the relationships among agroforestry practices, carbon sequestration payments, and livelihood and farm outcomes. Specifically, he intends to examine the factors for agroforestry adoption and the impacts of agroforestry carbon sequestration payments on incomes, crop yield, and food diversity among smallholder farmers in Tanzania. Mr. Lesseri believes in the role of research in furthering the frontiers of knowledge and informing policymaking.
