Akukwe , Thecla Iheoma

Thecla Akukwe is a senior lecturer at  the Department of Geography and Environmental Sustainability, and a Research Fellow at the Resource and Environmental Policy Research Centre (REFRC), University of Nigeria, Nsukka. She obtained her BSc (First Class Honours) and MSc (Distinction) degrees in Geography and Environmental Management from the University of Nigeria, and holds a PhD in Environmental Planning and Management from the University of Nairobi, Kenya. She also holds certificates in Flood Risk Management, and Environmental Planning and Implementation from the IHE Delft, Institute for Water Education, The Netherlands. She was awarded a Full-time doctoral scholarship under the Transdisciplinary Training for Resource Efficiency and Climate Change Adaptation in Africa II (TRECCAfrica II) programme in 2015 and has won several international travel grants. She has published several peer-reviewed papers and has attended quite a number of local and international workshops and conferences. Her research interests are centred around; Disaster Risk Management, Food systems transformation, Food security/insecurity, Climate Change and Sustainable livelihoods, Natural resources and sustainable development, Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA).
