This project will analyze the gender differentiated effects (time allocation, resource access, income) of a large-scale REDD+ intervention in Burkina Faso and also feeding into the REDD+ policy process. The REDD+ program in Burkina Faso will largely be based on an existing forest management program. The analysis will therefore evaluate the results of the existing program by analyzing the implications of variations in implementation (e.g. female participation in management) across the Forest Management Areas or Chantiers d’Aménagement Forestier (CAF). Data collection would include three levels: CAF level data, village/forest management group level data for the sampled villages and, most importantly, gender differentiated information at household level regarding time use, resource access and incomes. The project is part of Lisa Westholms thesis in environmental science and economics and is co-funded from other sources.
