Climate change is a global phenomenon that requires each country to come up with adaptation and mitigation measures. Although African countries’ GHG emissions are comparatively low, the effects of climate change are still widespread and a reduction in emissions is crucial. Kenya’s economy depends largely on fossil fuels. However, in a bid to reduce emissions, there has been a shift towards renewable energy such as wind, hydro-electric and of course, solar energy.
The objective of this study is to explore adoption of solar technology in Kenyan households by applying discrete choice models on the 2006 Kenya Integrated Household Budget Survey.
