Di Falco, Salvatore
Salvatore Di Falco is a Professor in Environmental Economics, Economics Department at the University of Geneva, and Research Associate at the Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment in the London School of Economics (LSE).
He completed a first degree in Economics at the University of Palermo (Italy). He was awarded an MSc in Economics and a Ph.D. in Environmental Economics from the University of York (UK). Prior to joining LSE, he held a Lectureship in Applied Economics at the Department of Economics at the University of Kent, and postdoctoral positions at the National University of Ireland, the University of Maryland, and the University of East Anglia. He also held a visiting position at the University of Wisconsin. He is an honorary Lecturer at the Imperial College London (Wye Campus) and Research Fellow at the Environment for Development Initiative (Ethiopia center).
His research focuses on the contribution of natural resources such as diversity on agricultural productivity, food security, and weather risk in arid environments. His work also focuses on the role of institutional structures (common property forests) on natural resource conservation, rural development, and poverty reduction.
