Thomas Sterner, professor of environmental economics at School of Business, Economics and Law, University of Gothenburg , has been ranked nr 9 of the most 101 influential opinion leaders in Sweden for sustainable development by the leading sustainability magazine Aktuell Hållbarhet.
Motivation: The professor's engagement is most noticeable internationally; As a visiting professor at the College de France in Paris, chief economist at the Environmental Defense Fund in New York and as chair of the research committee of the Environment for Development Initiative, which supports environmental economists in developing countries. Sterner was one of the principal authors of Chapter 15 in the IPCC's fifth assessment of climate change.
