Yonas W. Alemu (PhD), Department of Economics, University of Gothenburg, Environment for Development initiative, research officer conducted training from 2nd July to 6th July, 2012 at the University of Dar es Salaam on Panel Data Econometrics
The aim of the course was to provide a fairly detailed introduction to econometrics models often used to analyze panel data in applied economic research. The course focused on applications rather than proofs and derivations of the alternative estimators. The models presented using both matrix approach and the approach without matrix notations.
The participants to this course were graduate students (PhD & MA), interested faculty members and applied researchers. However, graduate level econometrics course was a prerequisite for the course.
The course was designed for three-hour lectures. In addition there were two hours lab sessions where participants practiced estimating the different models suing Stata. The course covers five (5) modules. These are Introduction to Panel Data Modeling; static linear model, dynamic linear model, non linear panel data models and non linear dynamic models and the problem of initial conditions.
