The Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) has co-opted Professor Wisdom Akpalu, Director of EfD Ghana as a member of its Technical Advisory Board (TAB). The MSC is an international non-profit organization that recognizes and rewards efforts to protect oceans and safeguard seafood supplies for the future.
The TAB is one of the key governance bodies of the MSC, positioned to provide scientific and technical advice to the Board of Trustees. Wisdom Akpalu’s appointment takes immediate effect.
“The need to safeguard marine and other natural resources has never been more urgent; I am honored to join the MSC Technical Advisory Board and work with eminent fisheries experts worldwide to manage fisheries sustainably,” Wisdom Akpalu said.
The Director of the EfD center in Ghana, who is also the Dean of the School of Research and Graduate Studies at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), describes the appointment as a welcome recognition and added opportunity to extend and deepen the impact of his work.
He is an avid researcher with research interests spanning the bio-socioeconomics of natural resource management, including fisheries management, and the economics of crime and punishment.
