EfD researcher, Carlos Chávez, NENRE-Concepcion, has been appointed by the Chilean Government to collaborate as a member of the "National Commission of Lithium" ("Comisión Nacional del Litio", by its name in Spanish). This Commission has as objective to propose to the Chilean Government a public policy for the exploitation of Lithium in Chile. This appointment is based on the work of our center in the field of environmental economics and natural resources.
The Commission was officially presented to the public by the President of the Republic of Chile, Mrs Michelle Bachelet, in a ceremony in which she informed on the objectives, members, and tasks that the Commission should accomplish. The activity took place in the Palacio de la Moneda, which is the house of the government. The Commission should submit the report to the Government by the end of this year.
