Roger Madrigal, EfD Senior Researcher , is presenting during the World Water Week in Stockholm, August 29-September 2.
The event gathers around 3,000 participants from more than 120 countries and brings together practitioners, decision-makers, business innovators, the private sector, multilateral organizations, civil society and academia. World Water Week in Stockholm is the annual focal point for the globe’s water issues. It is organized by SIWI (Stockholm International Water Institute) . This year, the theme is Water for Sustainable Growth.
Madrigal will participate with his presentation “Determinants of performance of water providers in rural Central America” in the session: “Good Water Governance for Inclusive Growth and Poverty Reduction”. This session has the objective to showcase successful case studies of good water governance and stakeholder participation includes the recognition of power asymmetry and gender-differentiated roles in achieving good governance as central to effective, inclusive and efficient water resources management.
The Opening session on 29 August included the Swedish Minister for Foreign Affairs, the Secretary-General of OECD, Delegate Minister of Energy, Mining, Water and Environment, Morocco, 2016 Stockholm Water Prize Laureate Professor Joan B. Rose, from Michigan State University, USA, and Cardinal Turkson, President of the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace, Vatican.
The goal of the 26th World Water Week is to network, exchange ideas, foster new thinking and develop solutions to the most pressing water-related challenges of today.
