Tengberg, Anna
Anna Tengberg holds a PhD in Physical Geography from Gothenburg University. Between 1996-1997, she was Post Doctoral Fellow at the School of Development Studies at the University of East Anglia, UK. She has conducted fieldwork for research in many different parts of the world and published papers on desertification, soil and water conservation and soil erosion-productivity modeling. She worked for the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) at its headquarters in Nairobi between 1999-2007 where she developed and oversaw implementation of a large number of Global Environment Facility (GEF) funded natural resources management projects in Africa, Latin America and Asia. She was also involved in global assessment projects, such as the Millennium Ecosystem Assessment (MA) and the Land Degradation Assessment for Drylands (LADA). Between 2007-2009, she worked for the UN Development Programme (UNDP) as the Regional Technical Advisor for Land Degradation and International Waters for the Asia-Pacific region where she supervised projects on sustainable land management in South Asia, sustainable forest management in Southeast Asia and management of international waters in the Coral Triangle and the South Pacific. One and a half year before leaving UNDP, she also took over as UNDP’s Senior Technical Advisor for Land Degradation, providing support and quality assurance to UNDP’s global sustainable land management portfolio. Anna is currently consulting for the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the UN Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO), United Nations University (UNU) and the Western and Central Pacific Fisheries Commission (WCPFC).
