Okodua, Henry

Henry Okodua is an economist and a Senior Lecturer based in Nigeria. He has over 18 years working experience as a university lecturer teaching at Covenant University and researching on African economic and social science issues since September 2004. Henry Okodua is also an adjunct lecturer at the Emerald Energy Institute, University of Port Harcourt, Port Harcourt, Nigeria and an Associate Senior Research Fellow, Resource and Environmental Policy Research Center (REPRC), Environment for Development (EfD) Initiative Centre, University of Nigeria, Nsukka. Henry Okodua holds a PhD in Economics Degree (Covenant University, Ota, Nigeria), and a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Economics Degree (University of Benin, Benin City, Nigeria).

Research interests

Henry’s main research interests are in the area of climate change, policy modeling and analysis, environmental and development economics. He recently concluded two works on Nigeria's Climate Adaptation Policy Review and Analysis, and on Modeling the Economic Impacts of Climate Change and Adaptation Strategies in Nigeria. His current research engagement includes a collaborative work on Towards reconciling economic and debt management policies with climate and development objectives in Nigeria.  The aspect of interest to his team on this project is to determine the optimal carbon pricing policy for Nigeria using a CGE-based analysis.

Mentoring

Has supervised 8 PhD theses till date and currently supervising 3 others. Has also supervised at least 7 dissertations and over 50 undergraduate students’ research projects. He has also been on the college PhD examination panel of at least 15 candidates.
