Mulatu, Dawit W.
Dawit Woubishet Mulatu is a Senior Research Fellow at the Environment and Climate Research Center (ECRC), Policy Studies Institute (PSI).
He is a Ph.D. graduate in Economics (Resource and Environmental Economics). His thesis from the University of Twente the Netherlands was entitled “Linking the economy to the ecosystems: Land use change and ecosystem services valuation”.
He has ample research and practical experience on the valuation of ecosystem services, Payment for Ecosystem Services (PES), economic and financial assessment of potential intervention to restore degraded areas, closely working with the government on how to implement Climate Resilient Green Economy (CRGE) and Policy Research and Impact Evaluation (PRIE) programs.
He has been published in renowned journals on the valuation of various ecosystem services, collective action, and individual actions in PES, Firms' willingness to invest in restoration interventions, Forest and Landscape Restoration (FLR) interventions. Having experience of working with a multidisciplinary environment and many developing countries context.
His areas of research interest are natural resource and environmental economics, ecosystem service valuation, development studies, payment for ecosystem services, as well as water resources management and development.
