Mantilla, César

César Mantilla is an International Associate, working at Universidad Loyola Andalucía in Spain.

He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Universidad de los Andes (2013) and he was a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at the Institute for Advanced Study in Toulouse (IAST). 

Research interests 

He is interested in the design and adaptation of measurement paradigms from Experimental Economics to problems grounded in Environmental, Development and Health Economics related to different forms of human interaction including cooperation, competition, and bargaining. His research interests also include the understanding of behavior in mechanisms of collective-decision making such as voting schemes and auctions for the provision of public projects. 

Mentoring 

He has mentored one Ph.D. student and nine Master’s students.  

Policy engagement 

2018-2019: Consultation for KfW - Colombian National Planning Department on behavioral actions to reach the environmental SDGs 

2021: Joint Research Project for the Colombian National Planning Department on the design of experiments for measuring trust in public servants (Police-people) 

Scientific Director of Alianza EFI, a program funded by the Colombian Ministry of Science to study economic informality and social inclusion.

Awards 

2019: Best Conference Paper Award, International Conference of the French Association of Experimental Economics - ASFEE, Toulouse, France.
