Ikiara, Moses

Dr. Moses Ikiara is a Senior Research Fellow and member of the Executive Committee of EfD-Kenya. He is working on water sector reform issues in Kenya.

He has been recently appointed the Managing Director of the Kenya Investment Authority (KenInvest), a position he took on 11th February 2013. KenInvest is the state agency charged with responsibility of promoting both foreign and domestic investment in Kenya, facilitating investors, and policy advocacy with respect to investment in the country. Previously, Dr. Ikiara was the Executive Director of the Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis (KIPPRA) (December 2005 to May 2012), and Policy Analyst at the same Institute (July 2000 to December 2005).

Dr. Ikiara holds a PhD in Environmental and Natural Resource Economics from the University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands. His previous academic qualifications include Bsc. (Agriculture, First Class Honours) and MA (Economics), both from the University of Nairobi.

In addition, he has published widely on issues such in fisheries, cotton-textile industry, trade in services and in environmental goods and services, tourism, solid waste management, and environmental policy.
