Current Research
Her main research interest is the optimal design of environmental policies. For that purpose, she does both theoretical and applied work, though most of my work is within the modeling of environmental regulation. Currently, a major focus of her research is investigating how data gaps and data biases affect environmental policy design. She has chosen to work on this topic since many laws governing environmental protection stipulate that the best available science must be used for decision-making. Yet, environmental regulators frequently face nonexistent, inconclusive, or ambiguous scientific evidence on possible environmental impacts. Moreover, not even when scientific evidence is available is it straightforward to determine what is the best available, since different stakeholders promulgate findings that support their objectives or favored policy outcomes. My research investigates how data gaps and information biases affect the probability of implementing environmental regulations and the design of these regulations.
