Aung, Ther
Ther Aung is an Assistant Professor at MetroHealth Medical Center at Case Western Reserve University, and an EfD Research Fellow. She has a Ph.D. in Resources, Environment and Sustainability from the University of British Columbia and a Master's in Occupational and Environmental Hygiene from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
Research interests
Ther’s research intersects energy transitions, climate change and human health. She has investigated co-benefits of household level interventions, such as improved cookstoves, social cash transfers, etc., on climate, health, energy poverty, and time use. Trained as an exposure scientist, she also designs and implements indoor and outdoor air quality monitoring to study air pollution exposures and chronic disease outcomes. More recently, she is interested in energy insecurity and health impacts among low-income communities in U.S. urban areas. Additionally, she is building her expertise to study the impacts of climate change on health care systems as well as find ways to reduce its energy use and carbon footprint.
