Lokina lead a workshop on Poverty-Environment Training

Dr. Razack Lokina, Coordinator of EfD in Tanzania, recently lead a workshop on Poverty-Environment Training Manual - Trainer’s guide. UNDP through Ministry of finance and economic affairs (MOFEA) – Poverty eradication Division (PED) commissioned Department of Economics, University of Dar Es Salaam assignment on Research, Training and studies of policy Relevancy to government and UNDP.

Dr. Razack Lokina through EfD-Tanzania was assigned the task by the Department to prepare a Poverty Environment Training Manual – Trainer guide. He presented it in a workshop on Poverty Environment held on Friday 14th and Saturday 15th November 2008 to test PE Manual. The overall objective is to develop training module for poverty-environment linkages to facilitate effective mainstreaming of environmental and poverty concerns in policy, planning and monitoring processes in Tanzania. The training is aiming at making it clearly the linkages between poverty-environment and economic growth. The Manual presented by Dr. Lokina was the First Draft, after some amendments it will be presented again by the end of December 2008. This stage the manual will be tested using sample of some trainers from selected districts. Other members of EfDT participated were Dr.Mduma, Dr. Mkenda and Mr. Ngasamiaku.
