Onjala, Joseph

Dr. Joseph Onjala, is a Research Fellow for the Institute for Development Studies (IDS)- University of Nairobi, where he has worked since 1993. He is also a research fellow for Environment for Development- Kenya. He holds a PhD in environmental economics from Roskilde University (Denmark). He teaches postgraduate courses on environment and natural resources management and research methods at IDS and  at the School of Economics, University of Nairobi.

He has vast research experience and has consulted with both international and national organisations/bodies such as United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)  where he prepared  the 4th and 5th Human Development Reports for Kenya in 2006 and 2007.

He has also authored several papers in the area of  resource and environmental management (Economics); Water and Energy Policy Analysis; Industry, Trade Issues, and Development and Growth Economics.
