Reza Daniels

Reza Che Daniels Senior Lecturer and Graduate Convener in the School of Economics at the University of Cape Town (UCT), South Africa. Before working in academia he ran his own consulting company and has worked with trade unions, the public sector, the private sector and with civil society more generally. In the past Reza has been an Advisory Board Member of the Western Cape Aquaculture Development Initiative, an Elected Member to the Executive of the Southern Africa Labour & Development Research Unit, a Member of the Oversight Committee of the Micro Economic Development Strategy for the Western Cape Provincial Government, a Short-term Consultant to the World Bank, Co-Principal Investigator of the National Income Dynamics Study, and Chief Economic Advisor to the Department of Economic Development and Tourism. Reza presently sits on the Steering Committee of the Programme to Support Pro-poor Policy Development in the Presidency of South Africa; is a Non-Executive Director of the Recycling and Economic Development Initiative of South Africa; and is Regional Coordinator for Africa for the Institute for New Economic Thinking’s Young Scholar Initiative. Reza has degrees from the University of Auckland, the University of Michigan and obtained his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Cape Town.
