Measuring the costs of driving restriction programs in developing countries

Start date

Funded by Resources for the Future and Formas through its COMMONS program, this 3-year collaboration with the Mexican Environment Ministry and the EfD Center in China project aims to measure the costs of driving restrictions programs that prohibit cars from being driven one or two days week depending on the last digit of their license plates.

We focus on the programs in Mexico City and Beijing. EfD researchers include Allen Blackman (Director), Francisco Alpízar, Fredrik Carlsson, and Ping Qin. The project began in 2011 and will end in 2014.
