Green growth in China

Start date

Green growth in China:  A literature Review. In the summer of 2013, Energy Foundation’s China Sustainable Energy Program (CSEP) awarded a grant to RFF to review the existing literature on green growth and to hold a green growth forum in China.

This project is motivated by the recognition that China needs to move to a “green growth” model where “growth” is meant to emphasize that economic growth is needed to create jobs and improve the standard of living, while “green” emphasizes that economic growth needs to be environmentally sustainable.

The literature to be reviewed includes theoretical growth models that incorporate environment as a component and the wide range of literature that studies China’s energy and environmental policies and why China experienced rapid growth on the one hand and grave environmental degradations on the other.
