Postgraduate research from NENRE spotlighted in important aquaculture-related newspaper SalmonExpert from Chile

The study "Does the location of salmon farming centers contribute to the reduction of poverty in remote coastal areas? An impact assessment using a Chilean case study", carried out by master student Adams Ceballos and NENRE-EfD Chile researchers Jorge Dresdner and Miguel Quiroga analyzed whether the establishment of salmon farming centers in remote coastal areas had a significant impact on the reduction of poverty in the period 1992-2002 in Los Lagos Region in Chile. The results show that poverty decreased considerably more in the localities where farming centers were established. This study was recently published in Food Policy.
