Pilot Trip to the Kgalagadi Transfontier Park

EfD/EPRU researchers Edwin Muchapondwa and Johane Dikgang went on a pilot trip to the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park on the 7th - 13th of June 2009

The pilot trip involved meeting with different stakeholders: South African National Parks representatives, the community lodge management, the Khomani San and Mier local communitie and the different NGO’s assisting these communities, to discuss their views on the project. The consultation was a success. Stakeholders expressed their support while researchers managed to address overlaps in their projects.

This research is done in collaboration with the following institutions and individuals: Rhodes University (Sheona Schackleton & Gladman Thondhlana); Stellenbosch University (Andrew Knight & Lelani Mannetti); University of Pretoria (Gerbrand Nel); SANparks (Kelly Scheepers & Christine Du Plessis); technical advisors to the Khomani San David Grossman & Phillipa Holden funded by the Ford Foundation.
