Selejio, Onesmo

Onesmo Selejio is a Senior lecturer in the Department of Economics, University of Dar es Salaam and Research Fellow at the Environment for Development (EfD), Tanzania.  He obtained his PhD in Economics from the University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania in 2016 and his BSc and MSc (Agricultural Economics) from Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA), Morogoro, Tanzania. His researches and publications focus mainly on agriculture, development, and natural resources and environment particularly land and forests. In his recent studies, Selejio has focused on adoption and impact of land management and conservation technologies in addressing smallholder agricultural productivity and climate change effects.  Through research and training he has developed a vast experience in designing and conducting big field surveys especially in rural areas. 

Selejio has also provided the consultancy services to a number of organizations including United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), and The International Labor Organization (ILO). Other organisations are, French Development Agency (AFD), The International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), Uniliver Tanzania, and Belgium Technical Cooperation (BTC). At national lever he works with teams that involve policy makers and academia to draft government policy documents such as preparation of National Five Year Development Plan and the Long Term Development Plan 2025. Apart from his publication in local and international journals He has co-edited and contributed chapters to Books such as How can Tanzania Move from Poverty to Prosperity?
