Portland State University

Portland State University (PSU) is a testbed for tomorrow—in the Portland region and beyond. PSU’s pragmatic approach combines education with creative problem-solving and collaboration across campus for maximum impact. With more than 200 undergraduate, graduate, online, and professional programs, PSU is Oregon’s most diverse, innovative, and affordable research university. Students go beyond just studying the issues; they work side-by-side with top faculty researchers, local organizations, and industry leaders to reimagine what’s possible.

PSU’s Institute for Economics and the Environment (IEE) serves as a center for investigation, discussion, and training where the economy and the environment meet. IEE offers seminars and community outreach events that address some of the key environmental issues facing our city, the region, and the world. Projects include research by students and faculty members on Portland’s Forest Park and community centers, forests and human health, deforestation in Nepal, and improved biomass cookstoves in Ethiopia.
