European Association of Environmental and Resource Economists 

The European Association of Environmental and Resource Economists (EAERE) is an international scientific association which aims are:

  • to contribute to the development and application of environmental and resource economics as a science in Europe; 
  • to encourage and improve communication between teachers, researchers and students in environmental and resource economics in different European countries;
  • to develop and encourage the cooperation between university level teaching institutions and research institutions in Europe.

Centre for Environmental Economics and Policy in Africa 

The Centre for Environmental Economics and Policy in Africa (CEEPA) was established in 2001 to enhance the capacity of African researchers to conduct environmental economics and policy analysis. It is part of the Faculty of Agricultural and Natural Sciences programs of the University of Pretoria, South Africa, which provides core funding for its teaching and research activities. CEEPA aims to

  • provide specialized post-graduate degree training and conducts research in environmental economics and policy
  • increase the awareness of the role of environmental economics in sustainable development among Africa environmental and economic managers and policymakers
  • promote excellence in research in the field of environmental economics and policy
  • increase collaboration and exchange of experiences among academics in participating regional universities.

Economy and Environment Program for Southeast Asia 

The Economy and Environment Program for Southeast Asia (EEPSEA) was established in May 1993 to support training and research in environmental and resource economics. Its goal is to strengthen local capacity for the economic analysis of environmental problems so that researchers can provide sound advice to policymakers. 

The program uses a networking approach to provide financial support. It also organizes meetings, and provides advice, access to literature, publication outlets, and opportunities for comparative research across its nine member countries (Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Vietnam, Cambodia, Lao PDR, China, Papua New Guinea). 

EEPSEA is administered by IDRC through its regional office in New Delhi. It is funded by IDRC, Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development Canada, and the Swedish International Development Agency.

Latin American and Caribbean Environmental Economics Program 

The Latin American and Caribbean Environmental Economics Program (LACEEP) was established in 2005 to build the capacity of the region’s environmental and resource economists. It provides financial support, advice, and access to literature, as well as publication outlets and opportunities for comparative research. 

Supported by the IDRC and the Swedish International Development Agency, LACEEP focuses on applied, policy relevant research. Its secretariat is based in Turrialba, Costa Rica.

The South Asian Network for Development and Environmental Economics 

Launched in 1999, the South Asian Network for Development and Environmental Economics (SANDEE) uses economic tools and analyses to address South Asia’s environmental challenges. 

SANDEE brings together South Asian researchers and institutes interested in the inter-connections among development, poverty, and the environment. Its main goal is to build the professional skills required to enable South Asians to address local and global environmental concerns. SANDEE works in seven countries: Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.

SANDEE is hosted by the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development in Kathmandu, Nepal.
