Evaluating Water Reforms in Kenya

The Government of Kenya has been implementing wide-ranging reforms in the water sector in accordance with the Water Act of 2002.  The reforms aim to increase access to sustainable safe water, sanitation services and resource management at an affordable cost. This study’s objective is to set the stage for long-term rigorous research in Kenya’s water sector by evaluating the performance of reforms in the sector. These reforms have often been cited as a model that should be replicated in other sectors hence the importance of generating sufficient evidence on performance of these reforms before they are considered for replication in other sectors.
