A great number of researchers working on environment and development issues were participating in the conference EAERE 2008 in Gothenburg, Sweden, June 26-28. Therefore, a special preconference on environment and development was arranged on June 25.
Some of the most prominent researchers were invited to the Preconference Environment and Development to give their perspectives on the role of environmental economics for implementation of sustainable development.
Invited plenary speakers were Dale Whittington, professor, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, USA, and Ed Barbier, professor, University of Wyoming, USA.
