External Evaluation of EfD

The University of Gothenburg has recently decided to procure EnvEcon Ltd (Economic and Environmental Decision-Support Systems and Solutions), to evaluate the Sida-financed activities of the Environment for Development Initiative and the Environmental Economics PhD program at the Department of Economics, University of Gothenburg.

Since its inception in 2007, EfD, a global network of researchers, has produced about 200 peer-reviewed international publications, almost as many discussion papers, a book series and 53 book chapters. The Sida-supported PhD program at EEU has graduated 30 PhD’s from developing countries and more than 250 students have taken one or more of the specialization courses in the program.

We are looking forward to the outcome of the evaluation since it will be an important input into Sida’s, and hopefully other donors’, decision to continue to support EfD and the PhD program  at University of Gothenburg.
