Applications are welcome for three, two-year post-doctoral positions in Environmental Economics, University of Gothenburg. For more information on the Environmental Economics Unit, see http://www.handels.gu.se/econ/eeu . We are an exciting and dynamic research group with a large number of projects on environment and natural resources. Much of our work is related to developing countries through the Environment for Development Initiative (http://www.efdinitiative.org/) and the focus of our work is on policy instrument design or valuation. We work closely with behavioral, experimental and development economics.

Description of work:
The research for all three positions is on environmental economics, with slightly varying focus:
a) Research on human cooperation to manage the environment and natural resources. This position is more oriented towards the natural environment and green issues including local and global commons as well as the effects of climate change. This position will be funded through a FORMAS research program that is joint with Resources for the Future and with Elinor Ostrom at Indiana University. It will include some time spent in Indiana for collaboration with Ostrom’s research group.
b) The second position has a similar focus: It is co-funded by FORMAS and a research program called BECC on climate change - particularly forestry and land use.
c) The third position is partly financed through the MISTRA program “Urban Studies” and is more oriented towards urban and industrial problems including transportation and again the effects on climate change.

The positions involve a limited amount of teaching and supervision, the terms of which will be agreed later. Applicants may apply for one or all the three positions stating their preferences.

Qualifications:
Applicants should hold a recent PhD in Economics or be close to finishing their thesis. “Recent” usually means three years but parental leave and other circumstances may be taken into account and should be stated in the application.

Selection Criteria:
Research potential is our key selection criterion for the advertised positions. The successful candidate will be expected to carry out research suitable for publication in leading or highly ranked field and general economic journals. Ability to cooperate in interdisciplinary contexts and personal suitability are also important criteria.

Application:
Interested candidates should send their application to anstallning@gu.se
Important: Please state reference number E 36 100/11 in the subject field.
