Agricultural Research for Development is an annual multi/inter-disciplinary and multi-stakeholder conference on agriculture, livestock and forest research in an international development context. Hydropower for Sustainable Development 2011

Organized under the auspices of the Ministry of Water and Energy (Ethiopia), and in collaboration with the African Union Commission and the UN Economic Commission for Africa, “Hydropower for Sustainable Development 2011”, is a high-level two-day conference gathering policy makers, regional planners, civil society representatives, industry leaders and the financial sector to discuss policy challenges and solutions for the development of sustainable hydropower in Africa.

International Conference on Shocks in developing countries

The University of Paris-Dauphine (UPD) and the French Institute of Research for Development (IRD) jointly organize an international conference on development economics in Paris. AERE Summer Conference, June 9-10, 2010

The inaugural AERE Summer Conference is held in Seattle, June 9-10, 2010. The conference will be an annual event (except for World Congress years) and will be larger in scope than has been the AERE Workshop in previous years. It will, however, retain many features of the workshop that have helped make it such a success throughout the years.

Growth Week

EfD in Ethiopia will be represented in Growth Week, 22 - 25 September 2009. Dr Alemu Mekonnen, Coordinator of EEPFE (EfD in Ethiopia) will be presenting a paper on this annual international conference. Dr Tekie Alemu will also be participating in the conference.

27th Conference of the International Association of Agricultural Economists (IAAE)

EfD in Ethiopia will be represented in the 27th Conference of the International Association of Agricultural Economists (IAAE). Dr Zenebe Gebreegziabher will be presenting a paper entitled "Institutions and Sustainable Land Use: the Case of Forest and Grazing Lands in Northern Ethiopia" at the conference. The theme of the conference is "The Global Landscape of Agriculture".

ERC Call for Papers: Putting a price on Carbon

Respondents to this invitation are asked by no later than 27 July 2009 to submit an abstract of a maximum of 500 words on a topic in the general realm of the role of economic instruments in mitigating climate change in South Africa.

Maurice Ogada Juma has been invited to present a paper on 'Farm Technology Adoption, Productivity and Management of Risk in Rain-fed Maize Procuction in Semi-Arid Lands of Kenya' at the Nordic Conference on Development Economics NCDE, on the 18-19th of June, 2009 in Oslo, Norway.
