Project coordinator Barbara Viguera, represented the CASCADE project in the National Forum: Climate Smart Territories: an approach to land management and adaptation to climate change, held May 6 in La Ceiba, Honduras.
The events objective was to exchange knowledge and experiences on climate smart territories and promote synergies between adaptation and mitigation of climate change for the contribution to national policy frameworks and strategies.
Viguera held a presentation that introduced into the discussion the term Ecosystem-based Adaptation “EbA” (use of natural resources and ecosystem services as part of a comprehensive strategy for adapting to climate change) and how this approach can complement the concepts of Climate Smart Agriculture and Climate Smart Territories.
The CASCADE project was presented as an example of applying the EbA approach in research projects and the experience in promoting adaptation to climate change and subsistence of small coffee producers.
Results for Honduras, including the policy brief attached (spanish only) were delivered and followed steps of the CASCADE project were shown.
