Matías Piaggio is Senior Research Fellow of the Environment and Development - Tropical Agricultural Research and Higher Education Center (EfD - CATIE) and Associate Professor at Professor at the Universidad de la República (Uruguay, on leave). He is PhD in Applied Economics from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (Spain) since June 2013, and has been consultant for UNDP and the World Bank. He works on studying the relationship between the economy and the environment at different scales. His fields of expertise are ecosystem services valuation, economic growth and environment, economic productive structure and environment, and experimental economics for analyzing the behavior of subjects using natural resources.
