Maurice holds a PhD in Agricultural and Resource Economics (Kenyatta University).He is a Professor of Agricultural Economics at the School of Business, Economics and Social Sciences at Taita Taveta University, Kenya.Prof. Maurice is an experienced impact evaluator and capacity builder. He has specialized skills in Econometric Modeling, Randomized Control Trials, Environmental Valuation, Public Policy Process, Poverty Analysis, Team Management, and Programme and Project Monitoring and Evaluation.
Previously, he worked as a Policy Analyst with the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) and the Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis (KIPPRA) in the areas of Agriculture, Trade, and Environment and Natural Resource Management.He has research interests in Agricultural technologies, Environment and Resource Management, and impact evaluation.
He has consulted for a number of government Ministries in Kenya, the World Bank, Department for International Development (DFID), USAID-EA, World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and International Union for Conservation of Nature(IUCN), Climate Change and Food Security (CCAFS), the World Vegetable Centre (WorldVeg), Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA), Kenya Semi-Arid Livestock Enhancement Support (K-SALES) and Kenya Markets Trust (KMT) in the areas of Impact Evaluation, environment and natural resource management, strategic planning, agriculture and trade. He has published widely in accredited academic journals and presented papers at national and international conferences.
