He is a Research Fellow at EfD and a Theme Leader for Environmental Pollution. His research mainly focuses on environmental pollution management, climate change, natural resource accounts, environmental sustainability and governance.

Afridi, Farzana

Farzana Afridi is an associate professor in the Economics and Planning unit, Indian Statistical Institute (ISI), Delhi. Her research interests lie in the areas of child development, gender, social identities and governance. She has conducted extensive research on different facets of India’s school meal program and the National Rural Employment Guarantee Act. Her current research agenda focuses on school accountability, women’s labor force participation and corruption in the delivery of social security programs. Prior to ISI, she was an Assistant Professor at Syracuse University (New York) and the Delhi School of Economics. She is a Research Fellow at the IZA (Bonn, Germay). Her research has been published in the Journal of Public Economics, Journal of Development Economics and Economic Development and Cultural Change, among others. Heidi J. Albers (Jo) is the Wyoming Excellence Chair in Conservation Economics in the Department of Economics at the University of Wyoming. She collaborates with EfD in Tanzania, Central America, and Chile in the areas of forest, marine, and wildlife conservation and management.

Alem, Yonas

Yonas Alem is currently a research fellow at the Department of Economics, University of Gothenburg, where he received his PhD in Economics. He is also the research Director of the EfD network where he undertakes duties of reviewing research proposals, research deliverables and submissions for EfD discussion paper series by researchers in the network.

Alemu, Tekie

Tekie Alemu is a Senior Research Fellow at the Environmental Economics Policy Forum for Ethiopia which is housed at the Ethiopian Development Research Institute. He was also the Dean of School of Economics and assistant professor at Addis Ababa University. He specializes in environmental and resource economics. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Gothenburg in 1999.

Francisco Alpízar is is the Chair and Professor of the Environmental and Natural Resource Economics Group at the Department of Social Sciences in Wageningen University and Research. He is also a Senior Research Fellow of the Environment for Development Initiative.  His research explores incentive based approaches to improve private and public management and use of natural resource.

Jessica Alvsilver is currently employed by the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency where she assesses and advices on environmental policy including the design and evaluation of policy instruments and the valuation of ecosystem services. She holds a Ph.D. in economics from University of Gothenburg. Her research areas include welfare and development economics and valuation.
